Our Vuzarma has the same sire, Hamlet, as Eric Lemaze's Hickstead.

Congratulations to Eric Lemaze on his individual Olympic Gold medal and being part of Canada's Silver medal show jumping team !!

New Perth Farm's Vuzarma is sired by Hamlet, a Nimmerdor son, the same sire as Eric Lemaze's Hickstead.
Charlton (Concorde/Hamlet) is a yearling son of Vuzarma and is showing a lot of promise as a jumper.

Foal photos

As the summer goes on the foals become more independant and will spend more time away from their dams and with the other foals. Here Dezarma (Verdi/Hamlet) and Demarko (Johnston/Floristan) graze together.

Daniosa (Lord Sinclair/Tango) is looking elegant as she loses her foal coat.

Diva Rose (Viva Voltare/Idocus), although younger, is shedding out to her bright bay color. She has now joined the other three foals in the big pasture.

Breeding Update

We have finished breeding mares for this season. We normally ultrasound at 14 days post breeding and again about 24 days. After 24 days we can see a heart beat and this is a good indication that the pregnancy will go on to produce a foal.

We ultra sounded the two later bred mares for the second time this week. Everything is progressing normal on both these pregnancies. This gives us seven pregnant mares to foal next year. We are very pleased with our success breeding this year as we have seven pregnant to first service with frozen semen. Some good management and a lot of good luck !

Pregnancies for next year are:
Florentina is in foal to Sir Oldenburg
Veganieta is in foal to Brentano II
Waltzalina is in foal to Johnson
Zinosa is in foal to Lord Sinclair
Vuzarma is in foal to Concorde.
Virtual Rose is in foal to Sir Oldenburg
Virgina is in foal to Donnatelli.

The first five will foal in late April and the last two will be June foals. These should give us some interesting foals. Bretano II and sir Oldenburg are new sires for us and we have had foals from the other four sires. We have sold two of this years foals, Verdi/Hamlet and the Lord Sinclair/Tango.

Wingar at Gingerwood

It always is a great thrill to see a horse which we have sold do well at a show. This week we saw five year old Wingar (Orame/Flemmingh) at his first big jumper show, held at Gingerwood Stables in PEI. Wingar is now owned by Carolyn Dohoo and she has done a great job of developing him. He placed well in the one meter classes and won the pre green hunter class. I am also adding a photo of Wingar in front of one of the great Maritime landmarks, Cape Blomidon.
