Low Tech mare milker

On the advice of our vet daughter,Martha, we modified a 60cc dosing syringe to function as a mare milker. Simply cut the pointed end off the syringe and reverse the plunger.
Put the flanged end over the mares teat and pull back on the plunger. The milk flows into the syringe.

Use that beer bottle you emptied while waiting for the mare to foal with a lamb's nipple to feed the foal that critical first milk.

Waltzlina has Donatelli colt

Waltzalina Jet Set/ Haarlem three year year old gave us a tall, fine boned colt yesterday evening. That was the second foal of the day. Both her and Florentina are first time mothers but are handeling mother hood like pros.

We say her start to foal on the foal monotor and were there for the birth. Foals get going in life very quickly and this one was no exception.

The Sandreo/Floristan (still no names for either) is filling out. He has the sleep-nurse thing well under control.

First Foal Ever Arrives at New Perth Farms

New Perth Farms had its first foal on Wednesday, April 26th ... Florentina had a beautiful colt last night by Sandreo ... During the night we were watching on our newly installed "Foal Cam" an agitated Waltzalina, two weeks over due but to our surprize this morning it was Florintina who foaled overnight thus explaining the agitation of Waltzalina ... all's well that ends well!

Whitney under saddle

Whitney, our Idocus/Cocktail/Burggraaf, has just finished a month of training with Cindy Matheson. She will be coming home for a rest this week. She now does walk trot canter. Like her sire Idocus she is a quick learner. We were fortunat to see Idocus last week end at Ocala Florida where he was part of the stallion demonstration for the KWPN/NA. He is now ridden by Courtney King at Grand Prix.

Keuring results Rhode Island

Vuzarma, left and Vaganieta, right ... Rhode Island, Keuring

In the Studbook for Star Class with an 8.0 for both her conformation and her trot was the lovely dappled dark bay VEGANIETA (Jazz x Ganieta, keur, preferent by Zeoliet - Amor) bred by FE Roos and owned by New Perth Farms of Prince Edward Island.

VEGANIETA has an impressive, well-balanced trot -wonderfully uphill - and her adjustability from her working gaits to her extensions were effortless. The jury concurred that this mare comes close to the level of Vittoria and Valeska (see DG Bar report) and with that, bestowed the ‘Best Mover’ and ‘Best Conformation’ ribbons on her. The next evaluation easily moved her into the category of “keur eligible”.

VUZARMA (Hamlet x Elzarma, keur by Purioso - Willowcratic xx) bred by G. Hoving and also owned by New Perth Farms showed good foreleg technique and scope in her jumping to send the ‘Best Jumper’ ribbon home to Prince Edward Island. Her other scores topped at 7.1 giving her a star but her trot was not good enough to advance her further.
