Veganieta offspring at keuring

We took all three of Veganieta's (Jazz/Zeoliet) offspring to the keuring. Veganieta is herself Keur Eligible.

The three year old Bagatelle NPF (Donatelli/Jazz) recieve a score of 70. in IBOP, movement and conformation.

Calipso NPF (Sandreo/Jazz) ,2 year old, recieved 70 for conformation and 75 for movement with a First Premium

The youngest Veganieta offspring is Enieta NPF (Brentano II/Jazz)

Veganieta is now in foal to Iron spring Farms Contango.

The 2009 gingerwood keuring is now history. It was a beautiful sunny day and the facilities were spectacular. The keuring jury was scheduled to start at 2 pm but the jury's plane was diverted to Halifax and after promised rescheduling they had to drive the last leg of their trip. They arrived for a 7 pm start ! The last of the two dressage rides were in failing sunlight and we moved indoors for the rest of the keuring. However, with the great indoor lighting at Gingerwood the keuring went very well.

We recieved a first premium for the yearling Demarko (Johnson/Floristan) , two year old Calypso (Sandreo/Jazz) and the foals Espertina ( Sir Oldenburg/Floristan) and Enkur (Lord Sinclair)

Zinosa was accepted into the studbook and Bagatelle NPF recieved a high enough mark for studbook but needs to meet further requirments as she is register B.

Esprentina NPF was the high scoring foal at the keuring.

All our pictures were taken before the keuring while there was still light so we had no ribbons at that time.

Bagatelle at her first show.

We had the thrill of showing Bagatelle (Donnatelli/Jazz/Zeoliet) at her first dressage show. It was Walk Trot at a Discovery show but she scored 8's for gaits and preformad like a seasoned show horse. She is three so Megan has not asked her to come on to the bit. Also, Bagatelle is our first "home bred" which we have had an opportuity to show at dressage.

Breedings for 2010

We have finished breeding for this year with five of our seven mares in foal.

Veganieta (Jazz/Zeoliet) is in foal to Contango. This is a new stallion for us and we used him because we have seen some great Jazz/Contango offspring. We also watched the super Contango son Ravel last year and decided we should have a Contango. Veganieta is 17 hands and is long legged so we think it should be a good cross.

Florientena (Floristan/Pilot) is again in foal to Sir Oldenburg. Florientena has given us four good foals, two by Sandreo and one each by Johnson and this year by Sir Oldenburg. We like them all but a repeat of Espertina would be great for next year.

Waltzlina (Jet Set/Haarem) is again in foal to Johnson. We like her this year filly by Johnson. We think Johnson improved on her conformation with good movement also. We again would be pleased with a repeat.

Vuzarma (Hamlet/Purioso) is in foal to Verdi. This will be her second Verdi following a Concorde this year and Concord two years ago. We liked the Verdi of last year, Desarma very much and decided we wanted another. Verdi has been very sucessful as a young jumper and carries great bloodlines.

Verginia (Welt Hit II/Zeoliet) is in foal to Sandreo after two Donnatelli foals. Both the Donnatelli foals looked good to us but we like the Sandreo offspring we are working with and wanted another one.


Virtual Rose and Zaniantha are not in foal this year.

With Martha home it was a great day for her and Megan to train the three year olds, Bolshoy (Donatelli/Jet Set).Bastion (Sandreo/Floristan) and Bagatel (Donnatelli/Jazz). Then everyone was out for a hack including Ken on Michael.

Zanientha (Timeless/Jet Set), now known as Fine Design, and her owner Morgan McKenna had a very successful show at the Gingerwood Horse Show in Stanhope PEI, this past week. Congratulations to Morgan and Zoey!

Martha recently competed with Wiseman (Lord Sinclair/Lancet) at Dressage at Lexington. She won the first level compition with a high score of 73.05

News From New Perth Farms

Sales
We have sold three of our 2009 foals. Espertina (Sir Oldenburg/Floristan), Enkeur (Lord Sinclair/Tango) and Evieta (Johnson/Jet Set) have been sold. We are very pleased that all three of these foals will go to good training stables. All three of these foals will remail at NPF until they are at least yearlings.

Breedings.

We have two confirmed pregnancies for 2010. Veganieta (Jazz/Zeoliet) to Contango and Waltzlina (JetSet/Haarlem) to Johnson. Three more mare have been bred and will be checked soon and we expect to breed two more in the next week.

The latest arrivals are a week old and we took some photos of the two colts.

The foals of '09.

We now have all our ’09 foals on the ground. The final two came late Friday early Saturday. We expected them because it was show weekend and mares like to complicate things. We always say foaling is like “House Arrest” because of the limits it puts on being away from the farm. Both were on time with healthy foals and that is the big trill of breeding horses , seeing a new foal healthy and getting to its feet. Both mares had had foals before and were total professionals about looking after the foals. We usually milk the mares and feed the foals as much colostrum as they will drink to insure they get adequate antibodies. We have the vet do an IGG Snap test to check that antibody transfer was adequate at about 18hrs after birth. If it is low we can use frozen colostrum from another mare or use some blood plasma.

It was a busy week end with two new colts. Virtual Rose (Idocus/Quattro) presented us with a colt by Sir Oldenburg. Shortly after that Verginia (Welt Hit II/Zeoliet) gave birth to another colt by Donatelli.

This completes foaling at New Perth Farms for '09. We have four fillies and three colts which makes a full house for us ! The first five mares have been bred back and we wait the prgnancy checks in two weeks to see what we will have for 2010.
